1943 Saurer 6M, 1 of 455 Built, 6 wheel drive

For sale is this rare Saurer 6M. Built around 1943, as one of only 455 total built between 1940 and 1946. It was developed for the swiss Army to pull heavy artillerie over narrow mountain roads. Very compact as it is only 5,44m long and 2,00m wide with a tread of only 1,57m but weighing 6,9 tons empty. With its 6 wheel drive and swing axles (see picture) it has 45cm ground clearance and has extreme off-road capacities. If you hear dry sump engine you probably think race cars and not trucks but this one has a dry sump 6 cylinder 6,75 litre engine, linked to a 5 speed forward, 1 reverse gearbox coupled to a 2 speed transferbox. It is waiting to be restored. The previous owner started the restauration after having it running and driving but sold due to lack of time.
